The Relation module is a new way to manage things like node references and user references in Drupal 7. It is more flexible and more powerful than the solutions like References and the new Entity Reference modules, but also takes more time to set up and does not yet have a fully working widget (or any other good way of creating relations).
During DrupalCon London, there was quite a bit of excitement over the Relation module – the session presenting it completely filled the room, and there were actually people who couldn't fit in to the hallway outside too. This is partly explained by Relation is a really powerful and unifying solution for managing relations between Drupal entities, and probably also by the idea that something like Relation might go into Drupal core in the future.
This screencast series presents how to use the Relation module, including topics like:
- Creating relation types and what the different types mean
- Creating relations using the entity collector block
- Creating relations using the relation dummy widget
- Using relations in Views, in particular with Views relationships
- Using relations with Rules, in particular for creating relationships
- As a bonus, the last episode contains a custom-built widget for creating relations, using Relation, Rules, Views and Page manager
Relation is an awesome module, and it fits very well into the Drupal framework. Please help out to make it even better. And please take a few seconds to show your appreciation to the people working with Relation.
Note: I have no more screencasts on this topic right now, but I'm keeping this series' status to "active" since I hope to record and show new stuff that is being released.

December 8, 2011Thank you! Thank you....for all the screencasts for D7 modules such as Views, Page manager and specially the reference modules (References, Entity References, Relation). I don't work on Drupal everyday and had not done any updates on a web site that used node references, page manager and views in D6 since the begininning of the year. Your screencasts for D7 versions of all these modules are fantastic and brought me up to speed very quickly.

December 14, 2011 Very strange. It seems to be working now, when I try in a logged out browser. Was that an on-site error, or a server error?Matt
January 17, 2012None of the Relation videos exist on Vimeo, thus the embedded videos do not load.
Any chance of getting the Relation videos back up?
Thanks,
Matt

January 18, 2012 Vimeo has decided that the Drupal tutorials can't be included in their "community section", which means that they are no longer searchable and also can't be accessed through their regular URLs. The embeds on nodeone.se still works, but most of the links to Vimeo are broken (since they lead to the old, non-accessible pages). It will take quite some time until all the video links are corrected. Sorry.
